Place: Azua, Domincan Republic

Dates: July 14-24, 2003

What: The purpose of the mission trip to Azua was to help continue the building project on the pastors home. This included helping workers to carry and lay cement blocks, mixing cement, and digging for new foundations. A very large part of the job was digging a cistern. There was also work done on the school where we stayed.

Another amazing opportunity was to fellowship with the people of Azua. One of the things the teens loved the best was playing with the Dominican children. They were around constantly when we were at the school and loved spending time with the teenagers. We also were able to go into the streets and invite people to come to a youth rally at the church. There was a very large turnout for the youth rally and even though we did not understand much that was going on it was neat to see people worship in another culture and another language.

We also had a little leisure time where we went to the beach, went shopping, visted some local landmarks, ate Dominican pizza - not what you would think. It was a great trip, of course we missed the comforts of home, but it only makes you appreciate them more when you return.
